baptism

We had a wonderful baptism this weekend for someone that has really become so close to Tanner and I! As most of you know, we are in the spanish branch, and tanner and I are in young men and young womens. These kids have really become like our own kids... even most of them calling me mom, and calling tanner dad. it's quite funny actually becuase they will be calling for their real moms, and i will be turning around to answer them. For the last year however, Tanner has been doing a lot with Octavio and helping him with school, and teaching him about church, taking him on camp outs, taking him to work, having him over for dinner and x-box, and he was finally able to get baptized this weekend! He asked Tanner to baptize him, which i know meant a lot to Tanner. I was so proud of both of them!

CLUE!

This weekend, Brook and Kyle hosted yet ANOTHER themed party. It was hilarious. The theme was CLUE. we all dressed up like a clue character (Ms. Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, and any others you could make up!)We then proceeded to play a couple games of CLUE, went to get ice cream... in our costumes of course, and then watched the movie clue. It was really fun! Tanner and I dressed as Ms. Scarlet and Mr. green, and brook and kyle we Mrs. Peacock and The Chief of Police.

by the time i took a picture of brook and kyle, kyle had ditched most of his costume, but i loved the peacock feather in brook's hair.
Don't you LOVE my beautiful fur coat?! haha. It was AWESOME. I got it from Tanner's grandma. She made it which makes it even more awesome.
Brook and I have been obsessed with clue lately. we have been playing it non stop at work, and so i think it would be soo fun to do a life size version of it and make a HUGE game board on the sports court. Maybe that will be the next party!

Reception and Farewell

Brook and Kyle had their reception over the past weekend. (actually forever ago, i just forgot to post this!!)It was beautiful. It was held at Kyle's parent's house which is absolutely gorgeous! If you (mom) want to see pictures from her reception go to davidpowellphotography.com and go to judd reception. One thing i was happy about was that Tanner and I got to take a lot of pictures of just the two of us together. It's nice to have a chance to get some real professional pictures of us rather than just snap shots. I love the shots that came out thankfully, so for my future children, at least I know they can have some nice pictures of their parents! (when they were young and cute). I know I always love looking at pictures of my parents when they were my age, cause it's just hard to think of them in that way without pictures to prove it! I just had to put this picture in because i thought it was sooo not tanner and I. it cracks me up.. the leg up, the arm leaning... tanner's "cool" face he had to do.

chase also had his farewell that weekend.. sniff sniff. I got to sing for his farewell, and his favorite song is Joseph Smith's First Prayer. I almost wanted to kill him becuase as some of you know, my voice does NOT go very high anymore. Chase is going to Veracruz mexico, and since he will be speaking spanish, I wanted to suprise him and sing the third verse in spanish.. and since tanner and I are in the spanish branch anyways, it wasn't every hard. well guys, i got through the second verse, and just as I started to sing in spanish (which sounded waaay better then english... why? i don't know) i heard chase start to cry. The entire 4th verse... was nonexistant. I couldn't even get through it because i was crying... but at least i made tanner get teary eyed... so it was well worth it. We have already missed chase like CRAZY! but his letters sound good, we promised him that by the time he gets back he will be an uncle... hopefully. here is cute little chasey

Mr. Darcy

If any of you love pride and prejudice as much as me, you HAVE to read Mr. Darcy's diary. I loved it. It was Mr. Darcy's point of view throughout the whole ordeal between him and Elizabeth. It was an easy read, and so cute. I love the whole idea of authors writing the same story, just a different point of view such as Stephenie Meyer's Midnight Sun with Edward's point of view.

another thing I thought was really funny... so I wanted to make another blog for book readers, and also for myself to blog about the books i have just finished reading. I made up a name and everything, calling it ...get ready... BOOK CLUB. But the BEST part was that I put as a sub heading... "For Bewitched Body and Souls" as in the phrase that Jane Austen uses describing Mr. Darcy's feelings for Elizabeth telling her that She has bewitched him body and soul. So, a few days later, i go to look at my blogs, and it says that my book club "has been locked and unpublished due to possible Blogger Terms of Service violations. You may not publish new posts until your blog is reviewed and unlocked." That is what it said. I started laughing because i have NO posts at all and I couldn't understand what they were talking about. So i read the terms of service violation, and it says that no one can post about witch craft of any sort. I started cracking up because they thought i was trying to what... bewitch people?! hahaha. I wish I could tell them to go pick up a book or watch the 8 hour movie of pride and prejudice to help them understand my meaning. oh well... looks like that blog might have to get deleted. JERKS.

PERSIAN NEW YEARS PARTY

I think one of my very first blogs was the persian new years party last year. This year was even more fun. Tanner and I took a few videos of the magician guy that they had this year. It was pretty hilarious. Our friends Harvey and Kim bartended this year and made sure they bought plenty of nonalchololic beverages for us. Last year all we got was coke, this year, Tanner and I got plenty of daquiries (however you spell it) and delicious concoctions. The food was really good, we had fish, chicken, steak, rice... all persian style of course. I have to say however, the funnest part of all were the black jack tables. We all got 500 dollars worth of tokens.... not to worry.... not real money of course, and we got to play the tables. It was hilarious, because niether one of us have ever played before, but of course, i AM amzaing at card games, and pretty lucky.... so i did alright. Lost all the money of course, but thank goodness tanner and I aren't gamblers! so one of the funniest parts was the fire magician. He and his daughter... yes, i know WEIRD, were so cool! i uploaded a few vidoes onto youtube.

books, books, books

So i have become the BIGGEST book worm this year. i go to the library every monday to pick up new books that are being held for me... yes, embarrasing i know. anyway, out of the many books i have been reading this year, i just finished The Alchemist and also Into The Wild. For some reason, these two books have really made me think a lot about them far after i have finished them. The Alchemist was amazing, in almost a parable type of story that really makes me want to memorize every passage out of the book just so i can always remember what the story is all about. Following your true destiny and not letting anything get in your way in fulfilling your plan in life. I would highly recommend it if anyone hasn't read it yet. Also, Into The Wild was an amazing book. Besides the fact that some can argue that he was crazy or reckless, He looked at life in a way that is almost inspiring. I haven't seen the movie, but I have always Loved adventure, and maybe it's reading that satisfies that craving for adventure everyday. But I couldn't stop telling Tanner about the point of view that this chris Mccandless guy looked at life. A sad and terrible ending to his life so soon (as most people already knew before the book and movie from his true life story)i loved how he learned something from everybody he came into contact with, and was genuinely interested in anything anyone said.
If any of you haven't signed up for GoodReads.com yet, it is a must to keep up on books that everyone is reading or has read!
