our wonderfully planned vacation

well, our trip to mexico turned out to be a hilarious disaster. Tanner and I had been planning to go to San Carlos, Mexico this week for our anniversary. We had everything worked out, a great place to stay right on the beach, and it is only an 8 hour drive. We were sooo excited because we haven't been on a vacation together forever! so we left Sunday morning around 6:30am, and we were having the best time, everything was great.... until... we get into mexico and fill up for gas. within 10 minutes our car died. just died. it would run .. maybe... for a few minutes and then just give out. we were literally out in the middle of a hot mexican desert. luckilly everytime we had to pull over there was a spot for us, otherwise we would be down in a ditch somewhere. Tanner and I decided to abandon the car and walk back to the gas station which we thought was only a mile back. so we start walking... 4 miles later, a tow truck pulls over. i thought we were going to die, it was 100 degrees in the hot desert. all i had were flip flops, and the bushes were full of dark ashes, so we got so dirty. seriously by the end of the day, i honestly don't think i have ever been so dirty in my life.

the tow truck took us to a mechanic who didn't know what to do. i am so thankful tanner can speak spanish... i don't know what we would have done. randomly however, our car starts a few times just fine at the mechanic, so we decide to give it one more shot to get to san carlos... or at least hermosillo (the closest city). We are only a couple hours from san carlos... but our car only goes another 20 miles and dies again. at least it died at a truck stop, so we called tanner's dad, Bret, and he tells us to hold tight, he's coming to get us. haha. oh wow. what a day! haha.

We hung out at a little restaraunt next to the truck stop for 10 hours. yes, that's right 10 hours. But not just 10 hours to ourselves... 10 hours with a 15 year old boy is obsessed with us. haha. he does not stop talking for the whole time. it was quite funny actually. we took a picture of him...

Bret finally got there around midnight, and we loaded up our car, and headed home.
We slept all day monday feeling sick from heat stroke, and i'm pretty sure tanner has strep throat or something... what a trooper. I can at least say, tanner and I had a pretty good time. we kept it funny, and just laughed about it. what else can you do?
We had a good anniversary though. we went to breakfast, went swimming, went shopping, went to dinner and a movie. We might try going down to san carlos again in september for shrimping season... at least that's what we're telling outselves, let's see if our car will make it.
